Judging Criteria

Entries into the Fiesta SATX Short Film Festival must fall under one of the following genres:

Action, Adventure, Animation, Children's, Documentaries, Dramas, Fantasy, Game Shows, Horror, Mystery, Reality, Romance, Sci-Fi, Sitcom, Thriller, Western, Other 

The other category is reserved for short films which are impossible to place under another category.

​*******THIS IS AN OVERVIEW OF THE SCORING PROCESS*******

It is subject to change upon producers discretion

​The jurors scoresheets will cover each of the following. Jurors will score each of the entries using a 10 point scale with 1 being the lowest score and 10 being the highest score using the following score card.

​I. SCRIPTED SCORING

​Score and comment on each of the following:​

  • Does the first five minutes draw you in?

  • Is the sound quality top notch?

  • Do the first two minutes draw you in to want to watch more?

  • Was the short film appropriate for the genre?

  • Does the editing flow well from beginning to end?

  • Does the lighting match the mood of each scene?

  • Rate the overall sound quality?

  • Does the music score create the appropriate mood for the scenes

  • Was it an original soundtrack for the entire short?

  • Score the overall performance of the lead actor

  • Score the overall performance of the lead actress

  • Score the overall performance of the supporting actor

  •  Score the overall performance of the supporting actress

  • Was the wardrobe appropriate to each scene?

  • Were the locations appropriate each scene?

  • If a set was constructed, was it appropriate to the scene?

  • Were the ambient noises appropriate to the scenes?

  • Was the script/storyline intriguing?

  • Did the film direction meet its objective in its entirety from script selection to editing, to lighting, to acting, to locations…?

  • Was the cinematography captivating?

  • Was the Hair/Make-up appropriate for the genre?

  • Would you want to see this short film pilot as an ongoing series?

  • Would a series have mass appeal?

  • Does the first five minutes draw you in?

  • Is the subject intriguing?

  • Does the editing flow well from beginning to end?

  • Is the lighting appropriate for the subject at hand?

  • Is the sound quality excellent?

  • Does the music score create the appropriate mood for the scenes

  • ​Performance of the Host/Reality Personality

  • Set/Locations

  • Would you want to see this pilot as an ongoing series?

  • Would this type of series have mass appeal?
